The Lost Dutchman Mine is one of if not the most widely-known lost mine legend in the American Southwest. A real person found real gold somewhere, and the region over which he likely tromped is well-established.
Since the legend is so well known, it has a lot of issues with “information” of all sorts being added on as time has progressed. Since older tends to be a little better, excepting actual finds of truly new documentation, here’s a 1966 Desert Magazine article to whet the whistle that may be slightly closer to the source than modern resources:
